Composer Leonard Bernstein may be best known for his Broadway babies "West Side Story" and "On the Town", but he also gave birth to several choral masterpieces, including "Chichester Psalms", a joyful, contemporary piece based on songs from the Hebrew bible. It's set to kick off the season opener from the 200-voice, two-time Grammy-winning Washington Chorus, who're welcoming their new artistic director, Christopher Bell of Chicago's acclaimed Grant Park Music Festival. You'll also hear Morten Lauridsen's "Mid-Winter Songs" at this Kennedy Center Concert Hall event, and Bell has promised to bring the house down with William Walton's grand epic, "Belshazzar's Feast".
